Sun Mingming is a former Chinese professional basketball player and actor. He was born in a small town close to Bayan County , Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, China on August 23, 1983. According to Guiness World Records, Sun is the tallest professional basketball player in the world. He is 7.9ft tall.

Sun got married to a tall woman, Xu Yan (6ft tall) on August 4, 2013. They were both recognised by Guineas World Record as the tallest living married couple.
In 2005 during the summer, Sun found out that he has a benign tumor connectes to his pituitary gland. They are noncancerous growths in the body which can form anywhere, and during those time, he had no money. It was his sport agent that fundraise the money for the operation which was successfully removed on September 26, 2005.
Sun started playing basket ball at the age of 15 in a community college in Ventura, CA between the period of 2005–2006 season, before stepping up to play professional basketball.
