Nigerian Lawyer Dragged To Court For Disclosing A Client's Will Without His Consent

The Plaintiff demanded the sum of N100 million as general damages for the defendant’s negligence as well as for the trauma he suffered as a result of the unprofessional handling of his Will.

A claim has been documented at a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt against a lawful specialist recognized as Prince Gbogboade Akintoye by a 79-year elderly person, Chief Gaskin Egede Sobrasuaipiki, for purportedly uncovering the substance of his Will without his assent.

In the suit number PHC/2518/CS/2020, the petitioner encouraged the Court to arrange the litigant to restore the record duplicate of the Will in his ownership, saying the Will has been renounced.

He requested the amount of N100 million as broad harms for the respondent's carelessness just as for the injury he has endured because of the amateurish treatment of his Will by the litigant.

At the point when the issue came up on Wednesday, the directing appointed authority, Hon. Equity Okogbule Gbasam deferred hearing working on this issue to February 10, 2021.

Gbasam guided gatherings associated with the issue to record fundamental pre-preliminary archives to empower the Court to give it a fast hearing.

Talking with newsmen outside the court, insight to the petitioner, Erasmus Dike, communicated the good faith that the Court will give them equity.

"My customer came to Court against a legal advisor, Prince Akintoye. His case is that the Will he arranged for him was uncovered. That is the reason we are in Court.

"We are squeezing for harms to the tune of N100million for his carelessness in uncovering the Will," Dike expressed.
