Both the English Premiership and Spanish La liga have dominated European football at different times. Two Spanish clubs have won the Uefa Champions Cup, namely Real Madrid 13 times and Barcelona 5 times
On the other hand 5 English clubs have won the Uefa Champions Cup. Liverpool 6, Manchester United 3, Nottingham Forest 2, Aston Villa 1 and Chelsea 1.
I took time to thoroughly go through all the players that played in both leagues in the past.
And after much thorough screening this is the best ever 11 of both the Spanish La liga and English Premiership in history
Spanish La Liga 11
1. Iker Casillas.
Spain greatest ever goalkeeper, Iker won everything at club level with Madrid.
2. Dani Alves.
One of the greatest right full backs ever, Dani Alves was a warrior on the pitch. He is the player with the most trophies.
3. Carles Puyol
A rock of defense at Barcelona, he gave his all for the team and retired early because of injury.
4. Fernando Redondo.
One of the best defensive midfielders of all time, the Argentine was a classy player, who linked the defense and attack.
5. Fernando Hierro
As captain of Real Madrid, Hierro was both a solid defender and a leader. He scored lots of free kicks too.
6. Sergio Ramos.
He is the player with the most red card in the history of La liga. Sergio is a warrior, who is willing to die for Madrid. He takes free kicks too and penalties.
7. Johan Cruyff.
Voted European footballer of the Century by Fifa, Cruyff is a three time European footballer of the year. Extremely skillful and intelligent, he is one of the best to play the game.
8. Lionel Messi.
The man who took Barcelona to extraordinary heights and the only player in history to win the World Footballer of the year a record 6 times.
9. Ronaldo
Ronaldo was called the phenomenon while he was at Barcelona. He played only one season but until Messi came no other player had such an extraordinary season as he did. He is the youngest person ever to be voted World footballer of the year.
10. Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane is a Real Madrid legend, who endeared himself to fans with his classy ball control. A superb player.
11. Cristiano Ronaldo.
Together with Messi, Ronaldo created a football rivalry that has never been seen. He was the main man at Madrid and delivered consistently.
English Premiership 11
1. Ray Clemence.
The Liverpool legend won numerous trophies including the league title and 3 Uefa Champions Cups. No other goalkeeper in the Premier league has done that
2. Bobby Moore.
Arguably England's greatest defender of all time, Bobby Moore was a great reader of the game. His defensive skills were so admirable Pele said Moore was his toughest opponent ever.
3. Dennis Erwin.
While at Manchester United, Dennis Erwin hardly allowed attackers any space. He fought for every ball and was good in free kicks and penalties.
4. Graeme Souness.
Graeme Souness was a brutal defensive midfielder, which contributed to the great victories Liverpool had in the late 70s and early 80s.
5. Vigil Van Dijk.
The Dutchman came to Liverpool and transformed them into English and European Champions.
6. John Terry.
A captain and a leader, Terry was the leader in the Chelsea team that was built after Abramovich became the owner. A hard fighter, he often scored from corner kicks.
7. Kenny Daglish.
The King of Liverpool, King Kenny shone in the Liverpool team that won 4 Uefa Champions Cup in six years and numerous other trophies.
8. Bobby Charlton.
A Manchester United legend and winner of the Uefa Champions Cup, Charlton was a great player, with a powerful right foot. He won the European footballer of the year in 1966.
9. Thiery Henry.
The King of Arsenal, Thierry Henry was a world class finisher, who took his club to achieving great things.
10. George Best.
One of the best players ever, George led Manchester United to European Cup glory in 1968 and he was crowned European footballer of the year.
11. Ryan Giggs.
A great servant of Manchester United, Ryan Giggs played all his life for the club and was a darling of the fans at Old Trafford.
