General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida KGCB, GCFR was born in 17th of August 1941, popularly known as IBB, is a Nigerian general and statesman who served as military President of Nigeria from 1985 until his resignation in 1993. He also served as the Chief of Army Staff from January 1984 to August 1985. Babangida rose through the ranks in the military and fought during the Nigerian Civil War, and played key roles in several military coups in Nigeria.
While celebrating the retired general birthday at 79 we bring you his achievements as military president of Nigeria when he was in power. Babangida created 11 additional states while in Office. The states created by the former head of state include Yobe state, Katsina state, Adamawa state, Taraba state, Jigawa state, Kebbi state, Enugu state, Edo state, Delta state, Osun state, Akwa Ibom state.
He also created various agencies that still functioning in Nigeria today, those aagencies are as follows, State Security Service (SSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
