- Nigeria will face Cameroon in August 2017 in a World Cup qualifying tie
Despite their incredible performance which
helped them win the 2017 African Cup of Nations Championship in Gabon,
Nigerian forward Uche Agbo has explained that the Indomitable Lions of
Cameroon cannot stop the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2018 FIFA
World Cup billed to hold in Russia.
Against all odds, the young Indomitable Lions who were not with several of their top stars went on to beat AFCON 2017 favorite Egypt 2-1 in the final duel on Sunday, February 5, 2017.
The
Super Eagles will be at home in August 2017 to face Cameroon in a World
Cup qualifying match in Uyo, and Uche Agbo who plays for Granada CF
stated that it would be difficult for the Lions to stop the Eagles from
soaring.
“With all due respect, the AFCON is
not the World Cup, and whatever Cameroon achieved at the AFCON will not
stop us from being at Russia 2018.
“I haven’t seen anything special in the
Cameroonian team. They do not have what it takes to stop the Super
Eagles. No team can stop us from the World Cup.” the 21-year-old defender explained.
Meanwhile,
Nigeria lead their qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup with six
points from two matches, while Cameroon occupy second position with two
points.
