I realise that we all need some form of push when it comes to taking action, so, I’ve decided to start what I call the Action Takers Club. If you want to be more productive by taking action on your dreams, please subscribe below:
A site structure will answer the following questions and more: how many categories will the site have? How many articles will be under each category? Which article will be on the home page? And so on. Assuming my niche is weight loss diet, my site structure could look like this:
Category 1: diabetic weight loss diet
article 1: best weight loss diet for diabetics
article 2: diabetic diet and weight loss
article 3: diet for diabetics to lose weight
Category 2: vegan weight loss diet
article 1: vegetarian weight loss diet
article 2: vegan weight loss programs
article 3: vegetarian weight loss diet plan
Category 3: healthy weight loss diets
article 1: healthy diets to lose weight fast
article 2: healthy weight loss tips
article 3: healthy weight loss diets for women
And the one with the secondary keywords will look like this:
Category: what causes diabetes
Articles: causes of gestational diabetes, what are the main causes of diabetes?, does sugar cause diabetes?
Primary Keyword: causes of diabetes
Secondary Keywords: diabetes causes, cause of diabetes, diabetes cause
Once you have gotten this right, you’ll proceed to writing articles or creating content based on the keywords in your site structure. In the site structure we have above, we’re required to write 10 articles: 1 article for the home page and 3 articles for each category, making a total of 10 articles.
Is My Site Going to Have Just 10 Articles?
No, the first 10 articles are just to start off the site. Later, you’ll do more keyword research and come up with new articles for your blog.
So, How Do You Write Keyword-Rich Articles for Your Blog?
I really do not believe in over-stuffing an article with keywords. I believe in going with the flow while writing and adding keywords where necessary, like in the first paragraph and conclusion. Over-stuffing articles with keywords can lead to problems because the search engines are wiser now and once your site is spotted, it’ll be flagged down or de-indexed. So, beware of over-stuffing your articles with keywords. If you really want to understand what I’m suggesting you do, just check out the example below for an article titled: how do I parent teenagers? The first paragraph reads:
“If you have been asking the question: how do I parent teenagers? You have an answer in this article as it will explore parenting generally as well as parenting for teenagers.”
The last paragraph can go like this:
“From the above tips, we have successfully answered the question: how do I parent a teenager?”
That’s for the beginning and ending. Within the article, try to slot in the secondary keywords like: parenting a teenager, parenting teenagers and how to parent teenagers. Don’t try to force them into the article, just put them where them where they naturally fit. If it’s only 1 secondary keyword that naturally fits, leave it like that. Don’t over obsess over this. I already told you I like going with the flow while writing. The title of an article is usually what I concentrate on as the search engines, more often than not, to determine what a page or article is about from its title. This enables them group the article where it belongs in the index and call it up whenever someone searches for similar information through the search engines.
So, how exactly do you write rich and killer content for your niche blog? Keep a date with me, right on this blog but before I go, let me quickly answer this question:
Should I Write the Articles Myself or Outsource Them?
Initially, I think you should write the articles yourself even if you can afford it. This helps you understand the process of writing and building a successful niche blog. I tell people, if you don’t train yourself on a particular task, if you outsource it, people will give you crap and you’ll take it as such (because you know no better). But when you know article writing inside out and a ‘worker’ gives you crap, you reject it.
So, endeavour to learn article writing because it’s central to this business. Without articles, your site will go nowhere. Just like fishermen use worm as a bait to get fishes into their net, you’re going to use articles to bait people to your site, after which you develop a relationship with them and convert them into paying customers.
I know a ton of advice out there recommends outsourcing. I only recommend outsourcing after your portfolio of niche blogs swells and you can no longer do the writing job alone. I may be a lone voice in the wilderness but I feel this is a better route!
I’m out of here! Let’s do this again another time!
