Less than 48 hours after the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, was arrested, detained and released by the Police over alleged forgery of the signature of a governorship aspirant in the 2023 election in Plateau State, the embattled chairman has been fingered in another case of forgery in Ebonyi State.

In a petition before the Police, a former Chairman of the LP in Ebonyi State, Splendour Oko-Eze, alleged that Abure forged his signature in a document where he (Eze) purportedly resigned as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections in Ebonyi State in favour of another aspirant, Edward Nkwegu.

Following a petition to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, the case was detailed to the Force Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) for investigation where Nkwegu allegedly confirmed that he paid Abure N200m to secure the Ebonyi State governorship ticket.

Meanwhile, the FCID, upon conclusion of investigation, has recommended to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) that Abure be prosecuted for forgery.

THEWILL on Tuesday, reported that operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, on Monday, arrested and detained Abure over alleged fraud linked to the party’s governorship primary in Plateau State.

Yohanna Margif, a Governorship aspirant of the LP in the 2023 governorship election in Plateau State, had in a criminal complaint to the Police alleged that Abure forged his signature on a letter where purportedly withdrawn from the governorship primaries.

Recall that Murphy Imasuen, an LP House of Representatives aspirant for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde federal constituency in the 2023 general election in Edo State, had accused Abure of forging his signature in similar circumstances.
