4 days after abduction, whereabouts of Taraba council boss still unknown

Four days after the abduction of the Caretaker Chairman, Takum local government council of Taraba State, Boyi Manja, his whereabouts remain unknown.

DAILY POST gathered that no telephone calls have been made by his abductors to any of his family members or staff of the council.

The chairman was last Sunday kidnapped along Wukari/Takum road, where his police orderly was reported to have been shot on the spot.

Some staff of the council who spoke with our reporter on Thursday, said the refusal of the abductors to reach out to any staff or his family members, is now a source of worry to all of us.”

The source, who craved anonymity, said activities in the local government council have come to a standstill since the day the news of his abduction broke out.

He said, ” As I am talking with you now, nothing is going on in our local government secretariat, because all of us are confused and worried about the kidnapping of our Council’s number one citizen.”

Citing how soldiers allegedly break into houses in the name of searching for the kidnapped chairman and his abductors, he said, “Those people they are harassing and intimidating, how will they assist them with useful information that can lead to the rescue of our boss?

“With this development, do you think that the people will be bold enough to reach out to these soldiers who have been harassing them with genuine information that would lead to the rescue of our Chairman?”

A family source also told our reporter that no calls have been received from the abductors and no ransom demanded

He also pleaded with the soldiers to go about their assignment with caution, saying, “because the complaints we are hearing now is that the soldiers are not only harassing the people of the community where they are carrying out searches but also breaking into their houses.”
