Has Governor Nyesom Wike directed his supporters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State to begin campaign for presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu? This was the question on the lips of many residents of the state when campaign posters of some PDP candidates bearing the picture of Tinubu and the APC logo surfaced in Akure, the state capital.

The campaign poster had the pictures of House of Representatives candidate for Akure Federal Constituency, Princess Kemisola Adesanya and the Ondo Central senatorial candidate, Ifedayo Adedipe. It was powered by the Akure Progressive Forum (AFP). Some members of the PDP who spoke on anonymity, said concerns have been raised about sincerity of some of the party’s candidate especially those loyal to former Governor Olusegun Mimiko. The former governor is an ally of Governor Wike and a member of the Integrity Group.

Mimiko has not participated in any campaign rally of the Ondo PDP. The PDP members said candidate of the party for Ondo South Senatorial District, Agboola Ajayi, and some others who defected into PDP alongside Mimiko from the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), are suspected to be working for Tinubu. One of them said, “Mimiko is loyal to Wike. Agboola cannot be supporting Atiku when his boss is supporting Wike. With time, we will uncover the enemies within.

“We know Kemi and Adedipe to be supporters of Wike. Adedipe was recently given River State honours by Wike. We are watching them.” Adedipe, when contacted on phone, said he was not responsible for the printing of the campaign posters with Tinubu’s picture.

He said, “Do I look like somebody that will do something like that? I do not know anything about it. The APF did it. Maybe that is their preference. I cannot stop people from voting their preference.” Kemi did not pick calls to her cell phone.
