Africa has done relatively well at the 2022 World Cup.
Forget Tunisia’s showing.
Ghana were in with a chance, before their spectacular failure in their quest for revenge against Uruguay.
Cameroon’s 1-0 victory over hot favourites Brazil was a little too late.
However, champions of the continent, Senegal, have booked their place in the last 16
Morocco finished top of a group that had Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
Only Nigeria has achieved that feat in the history of the World Cup.
But have they been missed in Qatar this year?
“The FIFA World Cup can only ever miss Brazil if they ever were to miss out.
“So, nobody is missing Nigeria in Qatar except Nigerians,” Calvin Onwuka, the CEO of ACL Sports told DAILY POST.
Would the Super Eagles have made the last 16?
Onwuka replied: “Always depends on Draws. If we were in Cameroon’s group then it could have been difficult as it is for the Cameroonians.
“If we were in Senegal’s group then, yes I would expect us to make it.”
Biola Kazeem, a Senior Executive in Sports Marketing and Communications, is in Qatar to watch the tournament.
He believes Nigeria would have indeed given the rest of the world something to think about.
“I think the Super Eagles might have made an impression.
“Simply because we have better attacking players than any African team there for example and teams with attacking quality always have a chance.
“Osimhen is in great form, Moffi, Ademola Lukman. Even Iwobi,” Kazeem said.
