Al-Nassr’s sporting director, Marcelo Salazar, has insisted that when the time is right, the future will be revealed when asked about Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential move to the Saudi Arabian club.
Ronaldo left Manchester United on mutual consent in November following his explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner slammed Man United from the very bottom to the very top as he criticized the club’s board, Erik ten Hag, and youngsters, among others.
The 37-year-old, who has been without a club for the past few weeks, has been linked with a move to Al-Nassr.
However, Speaking about reports linking Ronaldo to Al-Nassr, Salazar told Flashscore: “I am not allowed to say yes or no. Let’s wait and see how things unfold until the end of the year.
“As you must realize, this is a negotiation that has a huge magnitude, not only for the club, but for the country and for world football, and it has to be conducted by higher authorities. What I can say is that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best in the history of football.
“He has always been an example to me as an athlete for the will he shows to win. And then, as a Portuguese citizen, I always cheered for him. But when the time is right, the future will be revealed.”
