The annual Calabar Carnival has been commended as continually improving.
Indian and American motorbike enthusiasts commended the bikers’ carnival segment of the ongoing 2022 Calabar Carnival as being the best in the country.
Punit Kumor, 30s, who has lived in Nigeria for over 10 years spoke on behalf of other foreign motorbikers at the start of the bikers’ carnival on Tuesday afternoon.
He flew in from Lagos to watch the bikers’ parade and demonstration.
“I cannot compare the standard of the biker’s carnival with what is obtainable in India or in the Western world. But what I see here is the best in Nigeria and the standard is very high.
“The difference might be the infrastructure. I will recommend that quality and standard of infrastructure should be looked into.”
Nonetheless, he avowed that “what I have seen is of high quality.”
Said he: “I want to encourage better investments to enhance quality infrastructure and interest of bikers.”
Tuesday was dedicated to power bikes and exotic cars parade in the famous Calabar Carnival. Monday was dedicated to cultural parade where 14 states and the 18 local government areas of Cross River State participated in the Nigerian cultural displays.
The six bikers associations that took part in the bikers parade include Max Riders, Diamond Bikes gang, Red Coepion Bike Club, Metalle Knights Motorcycle Club and D’Invincible Motorcycles Club.
Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State said the carnival has become a big brand, noting that the objective of the bikers segment is to illustrate the capacity of the carnival to attract professionals and all interests.
