The Kwara State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Frederick Ogidan, has urged all road users to embrace road safety culture to attain zero crashes on highways.
He made the plea at a press conference in Ilorin on Thursday to mark the “2022 United Nations World Day Remembrance for Road Traffic Crash Victims” tagged “Justice”.
Ogidan said the safety corps as an organization does not want more victims to be remembered as a result of the carnages from crashes, loss of lives, properties, permanent disabilities and losses to the national economy.
He said all hands must be on deck and as well remember the pains crashes have brought into homes and act accordingly.
Ogidan said the week-long remembrance programme was designed to sensitize the general public and motorists in particular on the need to be safety conscious on the highways while driving, particularly with Nigerians now in the ember months.
He disclosed that the highest cause of death among youths results from road traffic crashes.
Representative of the World Health Organization, WHO, Ekun Opeyemi, commended the road safety corps in the state and pledged to partner with the organization to reduce the carnage on the roads resulting from road crashes.
