Members of the Niger State House of Assembly, have issued the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure 48 hours to fix the Minna-Bida road, or risk a vote of no confidence from the House.
The lawmakers took the decision during plenary following a motion moved by Hon. Engr Mohammed Alhaji Haruna, under the Matters of Urgent Public Importance rule of the House, had called on the Executive arm of the government to expedite action on fixing the bad portions of the Minna/Bida road.

Hon Haruna disclosed to the house how he had to disguise himself to avoid being attacked by commuters that were stranded in the state over the weekend having noticed the frustrations and anger on their faces.
Member representing Mokwa constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Shaba Gbara, in his contribution said the inability of the state government to rehabilitate the road as “shameful” as the importance of the road can not be overemphasized.
“We are calling on the government to wake up to her constitutional responsibility before the people turn against it,” he advised
Afterwards, they resolved that the Executive arm of government should with immediate effect fix the bad portions on the road.
Furthermore, the House resolved that the Commissioner of Works be directed to start fixing the road within the next 48 hours or the House would be forced to pass a vote of no confidence on him.
