Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has called on religious leaders to pray for continuous peace and sustainable development in the state.
The Governor made the call during an engagement with Islamic and Christian clerics in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
While commending the religious leaders for preaching peace and peaceful coexistence in the state, the governor also tasked them to pray for God’s intervention on the current flood disaster ravaging different parts of the country.
Buni also reminded the clerics on the need to seek divine intervention for the resuscitation of the state’s ailing economy to enable the state execute more laudable projects that would improve the living conditions of the people.
He appealed to them to ensure that they enlighten their followers on the need to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards so as to exercise their franchise in the upcoming general elections.
Also, the speaker Yobe State House of Assembly, Ahmad Lawan Miirwa stressed that religious leaders have vital roles to play in ensuring safety, security and guidance of their followers for a meaningful development.
In their separate remarks the Commissioner Ministry of Religious Affairs, Mala Musti and Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Ustas Babagana Kyari said the meeting is to mobilize the religious leaders to offer prayers for peace and sustainable development in the state.
