Senate Leader, Senator Ajayi Borrofice moves that the Senate do consider the Request of Mr. President C-in- C, for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as Ministers of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended (Committee of the Whole).

1. Ikoh, Henry Ikechukwu – Abia State

2. Emmanuel Okon-Umana – Akwa-Ibom State

3. Ekumankama Joseph Nkama – Ebonyi State

4. Goodluck Nana Opiah – Imo State

5. Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub – Kano State

6. Ademola Adewole Adegoroye – Ondo State

7. Odum, Udi – Rivers State

The Nigerian Senate has today CONFIRMED the following as MINISTERS of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Henry Ikoh

Emmanuel Okon-Umana

Ekumankama Joseph Nkama

Goodluck Nana Opiah

Ademola Adewole Adegoroye

Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub

Odum, Udi

Ikoh is an Industrialist who has been in the Private Sector spanning decades. A household name in Abia State, he is the CEO, Harmony Foams Nigeria Limited (a company he founded in March 1994) with Offices in Umuahia, Aba and Port Harcourt. A philanthropist par excellence, he is a former Abia State Commissioner for Industry, Science and Technology during the first tenure of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

He hails from Ahuwa Oboro in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State.

Goodluck Opiah worked in the private sector between 1989 and 2003 in multi national companies such as UTC Plc and Bewac Plc Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he retired as the General Manager/CEO in 2003 before joining active politics.

In 2003, Opiah was elected to the Imo State House of Assembly on the PDP ticket to represent the Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency of Imo State.

He sponsored the bill prohibiting discrimination against persons infected with HIV/AIDS at work places and institutions. He also helped the establishment of Imo Oil Producing Areas Development (ISOPADEC) through the sponsoring of a bill to that effect.

Opiah was elected Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly during his second term in the house on June 05, 2007. Former President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him Chairman, Governing Board of Agricultural and Rural Management Institute (ARMTI) Ilorin, Kwara State in 2012 before his election as a Member of the House of Representatives representing
Oguta/ Ohaji Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency in 2015.

He studied Business Administration at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Port Harcourt. Opiah was born on 12th February, 1964 and hails from Abacheke in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.

Umana was appointed Managing Director, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 26, 2016. He had a distinguished career in the Akwa Ibom State Public Service spanning 32 years. He was appointed Finance Commissioner by former Governor Victor Attah and later Secretary to the State Government by former Governor Godswill Akpabio.

He studied Economics at the University of Calabar, holds an MBA from the University of Port Harcourt and is a Graduate of the Business School, Columbia University. Umana was born on August 20, 1959 and hails from Ndiya in Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

El-Yakub was elected to the House of Representatives in 1998 and from 2003 to 2007 representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency.

He was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 as a Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), a position he holds till date.
