Omah Lay isn’t just one of the fastest rising stars in the country right now.
He’s also one of the most valuable acts in the music industry right now.
The youngster from Port-Harcourt came onto the scene last year suddenly with the release of his debut project, a 5-track EP called “Get Layd.”
The EP was an instant success and it had many breakout hits, including the most-streamed song of 2020, “Bad Influence” and his sensational hit, “You.”
After doing the monster hit, “PAMI” alongside Wizkid and Adekunle Gold, mid last year, he knew it was time to drop more stuff. So, he went back in the studio and came back with a new EP.
“What Have We Done” is a 6-track EP and based on Omah Lay‘s status and reputation, it did numbers too. Some of the songs on it even became hits, like the sultry “Godly” and whiny “Confession.”
But is the sophomore EP better than the debut overall?
WHWD, as it is often stylized, is a mature effort from Omah Lay, if you ask me. The EP has a joint like “Can’t Relate” that’s not just about some imaginary love interest. It shows that Omah Lay has content.
And also, the Remix of “Damn” with 6lack tells us that Omah Lay is ready for international domination.
Critically, the second EP is a much better effort, if we’re being. But that doesn’t mean the fans have to like it or anything.
It just means Omah Lay has got what it takes to go all the way. He’s got a captivating voice, knows how to make music and he’s a fine boy too!
So, what do you think?
