Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has assured the northern community in the state of the government’s determination to protect them and their property. Also, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Gender and Vulnerable Persons (Men) and the Garkuwan Hausa (shield of Hausa community), Imo State, Hon Sulaiman Ibrahim Sulaiman, described as untrue reports that Hausas are leaving Imo.
He described Imo State as the safest place for them to live.
The Governor, who also debunked the rumour that the northern community in Imo are leaving in droves, said that they had no need to leave, adding that they are part and parcel of Imo State.
“This is where you live. This is where you do your business. You are stakeholders in Imo State.
“Nobody will power you away,” Governor Uzodimma instructed the leadership of the northern network who paid him a courtesy go to in his workplace in Owerri.
The leadership of the northern community said that they had come to pay a cohesion visit to Governor Uzodimma and to solicit his persevered aid to them within the face of recent pockets of insecurity affecting them.
‘Equal treatment for all’
Governor Uzodimma, who instructed the northerners that they are taxpayers in Imo State, admonished them no longer to be “tenants in your home,” including, “once you are here doing all your business you're from Imo State.”
The governor told them that “each protection or guide I can give to the Igbo guy from Imo State, I can even deliver to a northerner who's in Imo State.”
Uzodimma reminded them again that they voted for him overwhelmingly and that authorities has a programme for them with a purpose to help them stay nicely and conduct their agencies nicely.
He advised them that the authorities had taken word of the development of their habitation and confident them that it will now not take place once more.
“This government has no time for nonsense.
“Don’t move for self-help. The government will assist you.
“No association via any individual or organization may be stronger than that of government.
“All we want from you is records. Pray for the souls of individuals who lost their lives,” the Governor informed the group.
‘Those when you are after me too’
The governor alleged that the ones in the back of the assaults know that the northern community in Imo State is assisting him, including that it become the purpose they were being targeted.
He quipped: “Those who are when you are after me and God will not allow them to be triumphant.”
Uzodimma, consequently, promised to enhance the security in all of the locations they reside in Imo State.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Adamu Baba Sule, informed the Governor that they got here to give both ethical aid and pledge their solidarity.
He said regardless of the latest improvement, “Imo State remains the most non violent and maximum accommodating to the northerners inside the South East.”
He regretted that “horrific political leaders in Imo State conspired with others somewhere else to reason issues for the humans,” and pleaded with Governor Uzodimma to pork up safety at their places of homestead.
