Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) for deciding to go ahead with the Southwest Zonal Congress.
The congress has been scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2021.
In a statement made available to the media, Governor Makinde praised the NWC for their decision, stating that he was glad that the NWC “bowed to superior reasoning regarding the congress.”
He, however, warned the NWC against permitting divisive elements inside the birthday party to “unduly influence celebration decisions at the national level.”
The Governor stated that “any try and shift the date of the PDP Zonal Congress from April 10 is a sign to party loyalists that the hierarchy has been compromised,” an action which he said could result in “dire consequences.”

Being a Statement Released through Governor Seyi Makinde at the Decision of the PDP National Working Committee to Proceed with the Southwest Zonal Congress on April 10, 2021.
As the simplest serving PDP governor inside the Southwest and an invested celebration inside the PDP’s growth and improvement, I commend the National Working Committee (NWC) for the choice to head beforehand with the Southwest Congress.
