Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, is the largest city in Nigeria and the third in Africa after Cairo and Johannesburg. The city which lies in the south-western part of Nigeria is known for its rich and fascinating cultures, lifestyle, history and spellbinding tourist destinations.
One of the most visited tourist destinations in Ibadan is the University of Ibadan zoological garden which proudly houses different animals ranging from lions to rabbits. It is a popular custom of many families living in Ibadan to visit the zoo during festive periods to hang out and have fun as well.
So, on a fateful (later bloody) day in the Easter season of the year 1991, visitors stormed the U.I zoo as usual to enjoy the serene environment of the enclosure and have fun seeing different animals they have only seen on screens. Of all the animals in the zoo, the lions attract the highest number of visitors. It can even be concluded that a visit to U.I zoo without seeing the lions is not complete.
As aforementioned, on that day, absolutely everyone turned into at the zoo to have a pleasant time seeing the animals and taking snap shots, except a man, a ambitious and daring prophet through the name Daniel Abodurin who wanted to reveal human beings the ‘work of God of Daniel‘ by way of strolling into the lions’ cage to touch them like Daniel did within the bible with out getting mauled. Prophet Abodurin’s intention become to recreate the biblical tale of a young guy named Daniel who out of envy changed into thrown to a few lions that turned out to were mysteriously tamed. The biblical tale has it that God despatched down some angels to shut the mouths of the lions.
The determined Prophet Daniel Abodurin walked up to some staff of the zoo and pleaded to benefit entry into the lions’ cage. No one in his or her proper senses will provide ears to this form of plea, so the prophet turned into turned down. But after plenty disturbance and persuasion, the prophet’s insane desire become granted.
Another account has it that Prophet Abodurin sneaked into the lions’ cage. Sneaking or no sneaking, he eventually located his manner into the cage. Many people gift on the scene couldn't accept as true with what their eyes had been seeing, and figuring out it was no longer a dream, they prepared their thoughts for the worst end result. Prophet Daniel Abodurin became clothed in a purple robe and beneath his armpit become a massive bible. As he entered the cage, he began reciting bible verses and talking in tongues and calling unto the ‘God of Daniel’ to carry out wonders.
It turned into accumulated that he was shouting jah, jah, jah which was believed to be a shortened shape of Jehovah. At first, the lions retreated to a corner of their cage. Unknown to the to-be African version of Daniel, withdrawing is the primary thing lions do once they see something uncommon of their territory and later they remove it. Prophet Abodurin idea his religion changed into really running. He moved nearer to the lions and saved chanting bible verses, then in a flash, the lions pounced on the bemused, pressured and horrified prophet. A bloodless move of surprise ran down the spines of the terrified onlookers.
Prophet Daniel Abodurin battled for his expensive life however his strength became no healthy for that of the hefty lions, and in a second, he become torn into portions and gobbled. His bloody purple gown laid in shreds and his bible which he had flung away at the start of the attack changed into covered in dirt. Stampede ensued in the zoo as people took to their heels after seeing this type of terrible sight they will never forget about in their lives.
The prophet’s stays were accrued and later buried. That become how Prophet Daniel Abodurin met his bitter and horrible quit.
Many humans condemned the prophet for one of these bizarre act at the same time as others believed the lions have been possessed through demons more potent than the prophet and demanded that they need to be killed. Thank you for reading. What do you observed?
