The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday said the outcome of the blockade of foodstuff from the North to the Southern part of Nigeria has demonstrated the fact that Nigerians need each other to survive.
Northern traders lost millions of naira and sold their farm produce at ridiculously low prices as a result of the four-day blockade while the amounts of foodstuffs such as cattle, yam also skyrocketed in the South.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Yekini Nabena, the APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary said the event has underscored the need for unity between the north and south.
According to him “It is a two-manner factor. Everybody desires every other. The north desires the south and the south desires the north. Yes, cattle and agricultural merchandise come on the whole from the north but there matters that still come from the south to the north”.
“As a farmer, in case you harvest your tomato which we all recognize is a perishable product and you then are blocking off it, who's going to buy them from you? Or how do you preserve it from getting spoilt?”
“Can you produce it and then promote it to your self? Let us forestall deceiving ourselves as we have been witnessing on social media”.
“The south also have products that the north additionally desires. So, we both need ourselves. Some humans are just looking to make themselves relevant for not anything while all of us recognize the truth”.
