The ex-convict and some members of his gang had invaded Ijanikin area of the state and were robbing residents before he was arrested by the police.
Taiwo Sunmomu, a 23-year-old ex-convict, has been re-arrested in Lagos State.
He was rearrested for armed robbery by the Lagos State Police Command just about four months after he was released from prison for committing a similar crime.
Spokesperson of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, March 14, said the ex-convict and some members of his gang had invaded Ijanikin area of the state and were robbing residents before he was arrested by the police.
"The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Taiwo Sunmonu, m, 23, on thirteenth March, 2021 at eleven.30pm, for armed robbery after he became released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in November, 2020, having served a 5-12 months prison term," Adejobi said.
"The suspect was arrested via the police operatives attached to Ijaninkin Division, at the same time as responding to a distress call, because the suspect and his gang contributors have been robbing unsuspecting Lagosians at Ajayi Street, Oto Awori, Ijannikin in Lagos State. But different contributors of the crowd escaped.”
He also stated that the suspect has confessed to the crime and other crimes he had participated in.
One locally-made pistol and live ammunition have been recovered from the suspect.
