Itse Sagay, chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), says he is worried that Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, may interfere in the duties of Abdulrasheed Bawa, newly-appointed chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In an interview with The PUNCH, Sagay who described Malami as a politician said the power of the AGF must be checked so as not to control the activities of the anti-graft agency.
He faulted the fact that Malami and Bawa come from the same state, adding that both might even be related.
“This problem is a completely big query because I noticed that they both come from the identical state of Kebbi and they will also be associated,” Sagay stated.
“For me, that isn't always a completely healthy aspect due to the fact the chairman of the EFCC and the EFCC are alleged to be impartial.
