The Brain is one of the most vital organ in the body. The brain is the one organ in the body that controls most of the activities of the body. The brain is one of the most delicate organs of the body and that is why it is protected by the skull bone of the head.
As humans, we should tend to deviate from habits that will cause damage to our brain because if our brain is damaged, other organs of the body may not also function properly. In this article, I will be bringing to you seven habits that may cause damage to our brain. We should endeavour to stop doing them for our brain to function properly.
1. Depriving Yourself Of Sleep.
Some times due to some activities, we may have to deprive ourselves of sleep but this is not good most especially for the brain. The part of the brain responsible for learning and memory called "Hippocampus" may be affected when we deprive ourselves of sleep, we will may affect the brain's ability to memorise things.
2. Listening To Loud Music With Our Ear Phones.
The brain is the organ that is responsible for comprehending whatever we hear. When we constantly listen to loud music with our earphones we may be applying more pressure on the brain and it may cause brain problems.
3. Over Eating.
Many of us know consequence of overeating to be overweight but that is not the only consequence. Eating too much infact affect brain functions. Some research carried out makes known that Over Eating infact harden brain arteries and in turn affect brain function.
4. Taking Too Much Sugar.
Taking too much sugar is not good for the brain. Eating or taking much sugar in the body may affect the body's ability to absorbs other nutrients and this might result in malnutrition. When the nutrients in the blood is not enough, then the brain also will not get the normal nutrient it needs, hence its functioning might be affected.
5. Smoking.
Smoking is an habit that many young people are addicted to. Smoking can cause cancer and some lung disease but that is not only what it does. Most cigarettes have an additive called "Nicotine". This nicotine can be responsible for shrinking the brain. If brain shrinkage occur for a long period, it can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
6. Staying In A Poorly Ventilated Place.
Many organs of the body require oxygen to function properly, the brain also require oxygen. Staying in a poorly ventilated with no oxygen/air supply might affect the brain and may even lead to death.
7. Not Taking Enough Water.
According to research the brain contains almost 80% water. The brain needs to be hydrated so it proper to take water for the proper functioning of the brain.
