The memories of the Lekki Toll Gate massacre will forever remain in the hearts of every Nigerian Youths. It is already on record that peaceful protesters were attacked on October 20, 2020 during a peaceful protest. Despite the fact that they held Nigeria flag, scores were killed and several injured.
The Nigerian Army came out to deny that claim that soldiers were responsible for the killing of protesting youths, a situation one will tag as being a genocide, by Nigerians seem not to agree with the Army's denial as they said they were solely responsible after men in military uniform were seen with guns.
A surviving protester has recounted his experience in the Lekki Toll Gate killing which made yesterday a Black Tuesday.
According to him while granting interview with ARISE TV, he said it was God who saved him yesterday and the same God spared his life. He revealed that he saw soldiers with his very eyes and that they were three in numbers who were together.
He added that the soldiers shot at the two guys who stood close to him and they died on the spot. "When the soldiers shot the two guys, I knew if I don't make a move to escape I would surely die," he revealed.
This brave man said the soldiers knew that he hid somewhere close to the exit of Oriental Hotel in Lekki. He however revealed what saved him as he said he is a good swimmer.
"I dived inside the water the moment I discovered that was my only escape route," the young man added. He revealed that when he dived inside the water, the soldiers can and sprayed the water with seven bullets thinking that he was dead already. "If not for God and if not for that I'm a professional swimmer, I wouldn't have been alive today."
He revealed that he spent a lot of time swimming, adding that he swum from Gele-Glele Oriental Hotel and came out from another place. The surviver asked the government what is their crime, adding that they are demanding their right.
"We voted for you people not for us to serve you but for you to serve us," he added.
