LAUTECH Increases School Fees From N72,500 to N250k

The new tuition fee will take effect from the 2018/19 session.

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has officially increased school fees by over 100 per cent.
With new the tuition, returning students who are indigenes of Oyo and Osun state will be paying N200,000 while non-indigenes are to pay N250,000.

According to Premium Times, the new is against the N63,500 for returning students who are indigenes of Oyo and Osun states and N72,500 for non-indigenes.

Announcing the increase in an email sent to the students on Monday, October 15, 2018, the school authorities said the hike will take effect from the 2018/19 session.

Recall that following the disagreement between the Academic Staff Union of the University, (ASUU) and the two government owners of the institution, the University management approved an increase in tuition in July 2018.

According to the university management, the decision was made to meet the present financial realities of the institution is facing.

A top official of the University who spoke with a Premium Times reporter confirmed the increase saying it is meant to meet the reality of the day.

STUDENTS REACT

Meanwhile, students have started to react to the tuition hike as they have reportedly shut down the institution’s main campus in Ogbomoso.

Ladoke Akintola University was established in 1990 by the government of Oyo and Osun state.
