Nigerian software developer and founder of hotels.ng has said people don’t go to political rallies to support any party or anyone but go because they are hungry.
Mark Essien made this known while sharing his perspective on politics and the kind of crowd that attend political rallies in the country.
He wrote on his Twitter page;
In most political rallies in Akwa Ibom, 90% of the faces you see at APC rally were also at PDP rally. Those people do not go there to support any party or anyone. They go there because they are hungry, and they hope that someone is sharing money
The parties have built their fortunes and their popularity by keeping people hungry. Once people are no longer hungry, they start voting with their conscience. And 99% of the politicians are scared of that ever happening. They keep power by making people vote for N2,000.
That’s why education is never a priority for politicians. They don’t want the people to understand things. The economy is not a priority. If people build rice factories, they will not change their vote for a bag of rice. Poverty is a weapon – and it’s aimed at the people.
