JAMB Data Reveals States That Have Highest Number of Law Students


Joint Admission and Matriculation Board data has revealed that law admission into Nigerian universities between 2011 and 2015 were led by Imo, Anambra and Delta states.
Premium Times reports that the three states, which were the most consistent of all top performers for the five years, also dominated medicine and were among leading performers in engineering admissions.
Benue was able to make it to top three before dropping to top 10, while Rivers made it to the top four in 2012, top three in 2013 before dropping to eight position in 2011 and 2014. The state made the top seven in 2015.
Imo had 739 students admitted for law in various Nigerian universities in 2011, Anambra had 679, Enugu had 593, while Benue had 558. Ogun admitted 488 law students into various universities
According to JAMB data, Imo admitted 551 students in 2012, Delta followed with 476, Anambra admitted 469, Rivers had 447 while Abia admitted 355 students.
In 2013, Delta took the first position with 683 students, Imo dropped to second with 630, Rivers had 569, Anambra admitted 490 and Edo admitted 463.
Anambra came first in 2014 with 452, Delta dropped to second position with 430, Ogun had 418, while Osun admitted 381 and Edo admitted 373.
However, in 2015, Delta climbed back to the first position with 456 students.
He made the comment in Osun on Sunday, May 27, while speaking at the 61st birthday colloquium of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
