Former President Goodluck Jonathan has accused Farida Waziri, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), of lying against him.
It had been reported earlier this week that a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mrs . Farida Waziri, said she was glad in retrospect that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan sacked her from office.
Waziri said the EFCC under Jonathan was not given free hand to operate, saying she got the first indication of it during the probe of the fuel subsidy scam, adding that it was her refusal to back down from the probe of one of the masterminds of the fuel subsidy scam that earned her a dismissal by Jonathan.
In a swift reaction to the allegations, the former president accused Farida Waziri, of lying against him, and charged her to reveal the identity of whom she claimed to have been sacked for investigating.
Writing on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Jonathan said failure to give such evidence will prove she was hired to attack him.
He wrote: “If Farida is not telling lies, she should mention the person or company she was investigating and she was stopped, let the EFCC investigate.
“Crime has no statute bar. If she can’t then she was simply hired to attack me.”
Jonathan's former media aide Reno Omokri, had earlier said Waziri has a history of telling lies against ex-presidents.
He said; “It is understandable that when there is a new government in power, people would want to ingratiate themselves to the new administration and one of the easiest way to do this is by demonizing the previous government.”
