Filling station manager ‘steals’ N748, 000

A filling station manager, Lukmon Olaniyi, 28, was yesterday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N748,000 belonging to his employer.
Olaniyi, residing at Sulaimon Street at Iba New Site in Ojo, near Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.
Prosecuting Inspector Simeon Uche, told court that the accused committed the offence on October 20 at Forte Oil Filling Station at Igbo Elerin in Ojo.
He said the accused stole N748,000 which his employer, David Olutayo gave him to pay into one of their client’s accounts.
“The complainant found out that the accused had converted the money to his personal use after the client called and told him he did not receive the money.’’
Uche said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
The accused pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate A.S. Okubule granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
She said the sureties should be gainfully employed and they should show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
Okubule adjourned the case until January 17.
