Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech, told his team-mates not to celebrate
winning the International Champions Cup (ICC) trophy in Shanghai,
because it is not the “big one.”
“This is not the trophy we lift, guys,” Cech could be heard telling them.
“This is not the trophy we lift. Let’s lift the big one at the end of the season. Not this one!”
Alex Iwobi came off the bench to score the equalizer with virtually the last kick of the game, as Arsenal held Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday, in their first match at the International Champions.
The Bundesliga champions dominated the game from start to finish and took an early lead through Robert Lewandowski’s penalty.
Alexandre Lacazette almost levelled in the first half, as Bayern found it difficult to get past Cech in goal for the Gunners again.
After Iwobi’s last-ditch goal, the match was decided on penalties.
Emi Martinez, who replaced Cech, proved to be the hero for Arsene Wenger’s men, as David Alaba, Juan Bernat and Renato Sanches all missed from 12 yeards out.
Arsenal triumphed 3-2.
