Although many are
of the opinion that the Southern Kaduna killings have abated, latest
public opinion poll results released by NOIPolls, which focused on the
Kaduna crisis, have revealed a high sense of insecurity in Kaduna South
senatorial district.
According
to the report, 44 percent, which formed the majority of the residents
were interviewed and 34 percent of Kaduna residents confirmed that they
have either lost a family member or a friend during the crisis.
Kaduna
South had the highest number of residents about 51 percent who recorded
a loss, this shows the high state of insecurity in Southern Kaduna and
the huge loss of lives incurred during the period of the conflict.
About
800 people lost their lives and properties worth millions of naira were
destroyed in the conflict. What thought are the major factors leading

1. Religious differences
38 percent of people think religious differences between Muslims and Christians is the cause of the killings in southern Kaduna.
2. Farmers/Herdsmen
In
second place, 26 percent of people say the killings can be traced to
the constant fight for land between farmers and herdsmen.
3. Political differences
However, 14 percent of people feel that the insecurity stems from political differences among the people.
4. Ethnicity
The fourth most common factor is ethnicity at 11 percent.
5. Unemployment and poverty
In fifth place, many people feel like unemployment and poverty are reasons for the conflict.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of complicity in the violence and destruction that has ravaged the southern part of Kaduna state.
