Heartland midfielder, Julius Ubido has said a top-four finish is achievable for his side in the first stanza after a hard fought 4-3 win at Bayelsa United.
The Owerri-based outfit conceded an 89th minute goal to Bayelsa United scored by Aniyikaye Adeleye during Sunday’s completion of the remaining 18 minutes of Saturday’s match day 17 duel at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The victory earned Heartland their first three points on the road.
The encounter was discontinued at the 72nd minute on Saturday with score line at 2-4 in favour of Heartland after a heavy downpour rendered the pitch unplayable.
Ubido said the victory is a huge inspiration to his side to fight for more away points before the close of the first stanza of the ongoing league season.
“Of course, it’s quite possible to finish among the top four in the first stanza of the season. If we could pick the whole points in Akure against Sunshine Stars that will lift us further on the log.
“Traditionally, we hardly lose in Akure then we’ll come back home to wrap up the points against Lobi Stars, so it’s not impossible to finish among the top four.
“We’re greatly inspired and boosted by the hard fought win at Bayelsa United which incidentally remained the game we scored the highest number of goals in the season.
“Only determination could have seen us achieve the number of goals, it makes us happy and we want to go all out to achieve more positive results.
